Wow!  New vegan products are entering the market at a fevered pace.  What a great time to be a vegan.  What a great time to take the leap.  I love snatching up the new food products as soon as I spot them in the stores.  Ahead of time, I salivate over advertisements with their promises of “Coming soon to a store near you”!  I always want to pop into a new store just to see what vegan products they offer.  Sometimes, I have been pleasantly surprised.  Other times I have been greatly disappointed.  The day that vegan meat, dairy, and egg alternatives are common place will be a celebration for the consumers, the animals, and the planet.  Until then, we will try to introduce and review as many vegan products, food and other, as possible to make your life perhaps just a bit easier.

Today we are shouting out about a few great vegan food products that were recently tried by us for the first time.

Captain UK made us gardein chipotle black bean burgers the other day!

Why am I just now trying these awesome burgers? We love gardein products and buy them regularly.  When in the mood for vegan burgers we usually choose gardein’s Ultimate Beefless burgers.  The grocery store was currently out of those so we chose the black bean burger instead.  These were delicious.  Captain UK pan fried them, but I bet they’d be great on the grill. Unlike some vegan/veggie burgers, these would hold up nicely.

We served them with grilled onions, avocado, tomatoes, and peppers.

They are only 150 calories each and have 6 grams of protein.  They are also gluten free.  At only 7 grams of fat and 6 grams of fiber, these are a perfect choice.

Hemp Heart Toppers

What the fuck are these? I bought these at Kroger grocery store after finding them in the clearance bin.  I swear Kroger puts some products on clearance just to get the people to try a new product at a discounted price.  Whatever their reasoning, this hemp seed mix is really good.   There are different flavors.  We’ve had them on salads, mixed with chickpeas as a quick side dish, and sprinkled on garlic toast.  They are a good source of Omega-3 and 6, fiber, and protein.

We’ve also tried the garlic and rosemary flavor.  I added that to some homemade Italian dressing.  We will definitely be buying more.  They even have a coconut and cocoa flavor which I can only imagine would be great on nondairy ice cream.

The next product is by no means a newbie.   It’s just a newbie vegan product for me and Captain UK.  Food for Life Baking Company, the makers of Ezekiel Flax Bread have been in business since 1964.  Their breads are all sprouted grains and are non GMO, and no artificial anything.

Some of their other vegan products are 7 Grain Sprouted Cinnamon Raisin Bread, Ezekiel 4:9 Sesame Sprouted Whole Grain Bread, and Genesis 1:29 Sprouted Whole Grain and Seed Bread. We tried the Ezekiel Flax Bread, The Original Flour-less Sprouted Grain Bread.

This bread is found in the frozen bread section at our supermarket.  The bread is great for sandwiches.   It’s even better toasted.  We love to slather it with Miyoko’s Vegan Butter and Marmite from England for breakfast.  This is a good hearty bread.  Our first loaf didn’t last long.

I hope you enjoyed the reviews.   Much more to come.  Grocery shopping made easier for finding vegan products is coming soon.  Have a great weekend. Hope this helped. Enjoy.
