We are headed to a costume party tonight! What could go wrong with a bunch of adults dressing up, eating, drinking and being merry? Adults that have worked hard for weeks, months, and years. We are looking for an outlet to escape from the harshness of reality. We are going to have a blast chatting with friends, eating great food, and most likely overindulging! We will laugh, tell stupid stories and look like idiots to the outside world. We can’t wait!
Guess what? We will most likely be the only vegans there. So what the fuck are we going to do? Are we going to eat ahead of time and shy away in the corner? Will we feel like outcasts or weirdos? Hell no! This crazy bitch and her wonderful hubby, aka Captain UK are taking this as an opportunity to shine. We want to have a great time just like everyone else. We will take a killer vegan dish to share and everyone will be shocked and awed that it truly has no “real” meat or cheese included.
At the moment, I am whipping up some delightful nice cream sandwich bites. Bananas, peanut butter, sugar, rice cereal, and vegan chocolate chips are the winning ingredients. These people will fall in love with them. The kids and Captain UK ranted and raved over them, but that’s only the second course.
First up is the vegan Mexican dip I’m making; home baked tortilla chips included. Lots of spice, black beans, “cheese” and all the fixings of onions, tomatoes, avocados, sour cream and peppers will make even the most hardcore meat and cheese eaters salivate for more.
I’m taking the cheese sauce recipe from the website and making a great dip to share. Who could resist?
I’m not out on a mission to change the world tonight. We can only hope to put an idea, maybe a little questioning in someone’s head. I’ve worked all week putting in almost 70 hours. I want to relax, get dressed up, be silly, have a great time with my husband (who has also been working too much), chill with my neighbors and friends, and eat, drink, and be merry.
I will showcase how easy and awesome eating veganism can be. Happy Saturday night! Check out my Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for lots of great pictures and updates; hopefully none too damning! I’d write more, but it’s time to go!
