LATEST VEGAN REVIEWS OF 2019

So many new and improved vegan products are coming out all the time.  Everywhere we turn, we see awesome new vegan finds.  Some foods and food products are just surprisingly and unintentionally vegan.  We will take that.

Veganism is growing and rocking the world one compassionate person after another.  Yea us!

We’ve been trying some new stuff, making new recipes, and as always, staying with the tried and true favorites.

Are there shit vegan products out on the shelves? Hell yes there is, but being a vegan gets enough of a bad rap!  No need to highlight crappy eats here.

GARDEIN ULTIMATE BEEFLESS BURGERS

Beyond Meat and Impossible Burgers seem to be in the spotlight lately and rightly so, but don’t rule out the Gardein Ultimate Beefless Burger.  These vegan burgers are delicious.  They also have less fat and calories than the other two popular burgers. They are found in the frozen food section in most grocery and health food stores.

Purchased in a four pack, they hold up well and can be baked, fried, and even grilled.  We eat them often as they make a quick healthy meal on busy work days.  Our omnivore 14 year old son loves them.

FIELD ROAST APPLE MAPLE BREAKFAST SAUSAGE

For the first time since becoming a vegan over four years ago, I made my own vegan sausage.  It was delightful and I will be posting that recipe soon.

In the meantime, we have purchased Field Roast sausages many times before and will purchase many times again.  Their apple maple breakfast sausages are my favorite, but all their products are very good; perfect meat alternatives! We serve them as a side with breakfast, wrapped up in crescent dough and baked, and even use them to make bubble and squeak! You can’t go wrong with these.

BETTER THAN BOUILLON ROASTED GARLIC BASE

We LOVE this product.  I add it to so many dishes. Soups, stews, beans, and gravies are all up a notch higher in the flavor field after adding this garlic base.  Their other Better Than Bouillon Vegetable Base is just as good and I keep both on hand.  This morning I used the vegetable base in my homemade breakfast sausages.

Damn!  These are fantastic.  The flavor variety will suit anyone!

This company KNOWS how weird dairy milk is (unless you’re a baby cow) and why it’s so bad for your health.  They’ve created wonderful vegan cheese spreads you’ll be proud to serve at any dinner party.  They are pricey, so we try to stock up when they are on sale. Deliciousness is an understatement. We find these at Kroger.

TRADER JOE’S GREEN JACKFRUIT IN BRINE

This is the first time I have bought jackfruit in a can and like tofu for the first time, I was very afraid.  I just wasn’t sure what to do with it.   After sitting in my cupboard for three months, I finally decided to break it out and try making shredded barbecue sandwiches with the contents.  I was more than pleasantly surprised.  I opened the can, drained the brine, rinsed with water, and shredded the jackfruit by hand.  The process was easy.  I fried for a few minutes in a minimal amount of oil and then added barbecue sauce.   Easy, cheap, and tasty was the final agreement.  I can’t wait to buy some more. I served this on sandwiches with coleslaw.

HIPPEAS CHICKPEA PUFFS

Oh, these are addicting.  We and the omnivores of the house love these snacks.  I have to hide them if I want them to last for more than one day.  Their flavors include-far out fajita, sriracha sunshine, pepper power, and bohemian barbecue.  Made from chickpeas, these crunchy delights are a guilty pleasure snack food.
