Yes, you read that right! There are such things as vegan sausages and there is a great selection of them out there for us sausage loving vegans! You can purchase them just about anywhere, but if you want really easy, fantastic tasting homemade vegan sausages, this recipe is for you. I won’t bore you with the run up of the story behind all the stupid shit when you just want to get to the recipe.
I came up with this ingredient list by researching a million vegan sausage recipes. It is easily adaptable! Add lots of veggies, spices, and flavors to this easy mix.
It was my first time making these sausages and we (me and Captain UK) are completely hooked. Enjoy!
1 15 oz. Can Chickpeas (1 ½ c)
1 c Vegetable Stock
¼ c Maple Syrup
2 t Garlic Powder
1 t Onion Powder
2 t Paprika
1 t Salt
2 c Vital Wheat Gluten
½ c Nutritional Yeast
Place the top 8 ingredients into a food processor. Blend the fuck out of them. In separate bowl, mix wheat gluten and nutritional yeast together.
Add wet mixture and after stirring together with spoon or spatula, mix with hands until a string like consistency (kneed like dough).
Grab off small amounts and roll into sausages. Roll up into aluminum foil and steam for about 35-40 minutes.
That simple. Store extras in refrigerator and fry up or warm in microwave as needed.
