THE THREE VEGAN COOKING TIPS YOU MUST HAVE FOR SUCCESS
You’ve taken the vegan leap and you’re on top of the world. You’re excited to start your journey helping the animals, your health, and the planet. Life is good.
Then you realize, most of your friends and family are still eating meat, dairy, and eggs.
Once you announce your compassionate stance, the “nutritionists” and “guilty” but “not guilty because my eyes are closed” omnivores crawl out of the woodwork.
The typical questions abound. “Where do you get your protein? What about iron? Won’t you die of nutrient deficiency?”
“What are you going to cook? What do vegans even eat other than salad?”
Don’t let all of this nonsense make your positive journey fail or falter. You may have been very versed in cooking with meat, dairy, and eggs. Now what?
Learn to cook again. Search, research, and do it again. The vegan lifestyle is the ONLY way to go for the animals, your health, and our planet!
So what do we do to learn to cook the vegan way, no animal products included? It’s actually very simple. Don’t stress!
There are millions and billions of vegan websites, blogs, and all sorts of social media pages dancing around the internet.
Check your laptop, iPad, and phone for all the latest and greatest. Tips, recipes, advice, and all the best of the best are out there. Get to clicking that mouse. You will be in awe of the amazing meals you will be able to create.
This website, full of great cooking ideas is undoubtedly my favorite, but there are plenty of others out there.
Walk through your regular grocery store and check out the Ethnic aisle and the vegan/vegetarian sections. Next stop is the spice aisle. There will most likely be numerous spices you’ve never heard of or used.
Try a new style of cooking! Maybe an Indian or Thai dish?
Not yet for you? Try veganizing your favorite recipe. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Take baby steps if needed. You will live and learn, just healthier and more compassionate.
Pick up one of those new spices you’ve found. Buy some vegan ingredients and make a new soon to be favorite.
You DO NOT need a strict follow along recipe to make a meal. Is there anything wrong with finding a great vegan recipe and copying the directions exactly as they are laid out? Absolutely not! But please don’t hinder yourself in your new or just different way of cooking.
Use what you have on hand. Chop, mix, season, and cook to your heart’s content. You may just surprise yourself on how easy it is. I’ve had plenty of failures. I adjust for the next time.
Cooking (yes, even vegan cooking) should be fun, easy, and accessible. Get in there and just do it. Your body, the animals, and our planet will thank you. ENJOY!
