I’m not sure where you live, but in my neck of the woods, our local Aldi’s just opened back up after an extensive remodel.

Remodel they did in so many wonderful ways.

Sure, the building looks clean, organized, and fresh, but there is so much more.

Aldi’s is stocked to the brim with an array of vegan options. As a regular Aldi’s shopper, I have always liked visiting the store for fresh fruits and veggies at super cheap prices.

They also have a good selection vegan friendly staples.

  • Pastas
  • Sauces
  • Condiments
  • Oils
  • Spices
  • Rice
  • Dried Beans
  • Canned Fruits and Vegetables

Sounds great, so what’s the so much more about?

They are even carrying the Beyond Meat Burger!

If you haven’t had the chance to step into Aldi’s lately, now is the time.  Captain UK and I headed over there about two weeks ago.

We wanted to check out the new store, hoping for some great vegan options.  We had been reading about all the hype online and we were keeping our fingers crossed for some excellent vegan finds.

To say we weren’t disappointed is an understatement.  This new and improved Aldi’s is L…O…A…D…E…D with vegan goodies.   Meat and dairy vegan alternatives are everywhere.   We went crazy with our purchasing power.   We’ve also been back twice since.

We weren’t really desperate for groceries, we just couldn’t resist checking out the store even more thoroughly in case we missed something tasty the first go around.   We did.

As we all know, vegan meat and dairy alternatives can be pricey.  Earth Grown Brand at Aldi’s are much cheaper on a daily basis.  We found a little bit of everything and we will walk you through all these great vegan foods.

Look at these huge hauls of awesomeness!  We were super excited to try all of them.

We have made it through most with taste testing from a 14 year old male teenage omnivore included. So far, we have loved all of these vegan products.

The 14 year old has too.  The perfect thing about having a know it all teenage boy is that they WILL give their true opinions whether you like it or not.  That’s what we want- a pure unadulterated voice, unlike Piers Morgan.

We made chik’n parmigiana with the Earth Grown chik’n patties.   These were the best chik’n patties we’ve ever had.  They were delicious and crispy.  We baked them in the oven according to box directions with added spinach, sliced onions, and whole garlic cloves.  After they were finished baking, we added more spinach, some nutritional yeast, and tons of the Earth Grown Vegan Mozzarella Shreds.  We put them back into the oven until the cheese was melted and served with pasta, jarred sauce, and extra nutritional yeast.   These were more than special. You would have thought I had slaved over this meal all day.  I’ve already picked up more for future meals.

Speaking of vegan cheese, Earth Grown Mozzarella rocks, rocks, rocks in our boat.  We’ve melted it on flat bread, pizza, burgers, chik’n and even refried beans in our Mexican bowls.   We have bought a couple packages each time we’ve visited Aldi’s.  It melts perfectly and gives your dishes a stretchy, gooey, cheesy flavor.   We hope they introduce other vegan cheese flavors in the future. In case you’re listening, that’s a HINT Aldi’s!!!!!

Earth Grown Vegan Mozzarella Style Shreds

Lately we’ve been so busy, that all day cooking has kind of been put on the back burner for the moment.  At least that is what I am telling myself.   I don’t really think that is true; we just keep wanting to try all these great new vegan products.

So a few days ago, we tried the vegan hot dogs.   Once again, these vegan hotdogs are the best vegan hotdogs we have had.  I did a super simple, cook them on the stove top with some sauerkraut, add onions and coleslaw, and slap them on buns. Add your favorite condiments.   They were such a fast and delicious meal.  Yep, we’ve been back and already bought more.   There may be people out there making fun of us vegans eating vegan hotdogs, but I’d much rather be chowing down on these then………………well, you know…….. It’s disgusting what goes into an animal hotdog.

We bought burgers.  My goodness, did we ever buy burgers.

  • Veggie
  • Flame Broiled
  • Meaty

They have all been such a hit in our house amongst all of us; three boys ages 14, 18, 20, and us two crazy vegans.

We’ve baked and fried them.   The veggie burger is gluten free.  They are all protein positives.   Fat is low, veggies are high, taste is even higher.  All three varieties were very good.   We sound like broken records, but these burgers work.   We will continue to buy them again and again. Like the hotdogs, we will be interested to see how these hold up on the grill this spring.

Who doesn’t like cream cheese? We’ve missed this spreadable madness since going vegan.  I have tried other brands.  Some I like.  Some I don’t. Aldi’s version ranks right up there with the good ones.  It’s creamy and spreads well.   We usually use it on toast, but I am sure baking and cooking with this cream cheese would produce great results.

Our favorite breakfast meal is to stew up some tomatoes with onions on the stove top.  While that is cooking, we toast some seeded whole grain bread and slather this Aldi’s vegan cream cheese on top with a little garlic salt, black pepper, and sometimes some chives.   Get a bowl of steaming hot tomatoes and enjoy, bite by bite, the toast and the tomatoes together.

Another great way to use this smooth vegan cream cheese is to spread it on bread in place of mayonnaise.   Cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, fresh herbs, salt, and cracked black pepper work well with this nice spread.  You can also use it in recipes to make savory dips and sweet desserts.  Enjoy.  We do.

Aldi’s Queso Dip is really really good.  We like it.  They 14 year old like it.  We ate this cheesy dip right out of the package with pita bread.  The 14 year old heated up this dip and ate it with tortilla chips and said he liked it a lot. He said the dip was smoother than the normal queso dip he ate.  Of course it’s plant-based and totally vegan.  We tried to pick up another container the other day, but Aldi’s was out.  We hope that is just a good sign that the demand is greater than the supply.  We will keep you posted on this one. We were definitely satisfied and will buy more as long as they are available.

We have bought the hummus at Aldi numerous times so I don’t want to take too much time on this one since it’s not a newbie.

This is my favorite hummus recipe! With just a few simple tricks, you really can make smooth homemade hummus from scratch and yes, we really do think it’s better than store-bought.

Bottom line though, we like the hummus, the entire family likes the hummus, and it’s a great deal for the money.  They carry many different varieties for all your tastes.

Since reopening, their line of drinks have exploded also.  I am not a huge smoothie or power drink kind of person, but Captain UK is and he says all of the drinks he has tried so far are great.   They have plenty to choose from when it comes to vegan beers and wine which I am a big fan of.

Aldi’s is THEE store to tap into for all your vegan needs.  Chips, dressings, dips, meat and cheese alternatives, veggies, fruits, wines, beers, pastas, sauces, and even hand soaps are vegan happy in this store.   You cannot go wrong by shopping here.

To top off all this great vegan news, the prices at Aldi’s compared to other grocery stores is cheap.   Most of the vegan products we found were at least $1 or $2 cheaper per package.   That adds up to high savings and more bang for our buck for vegans.

Let us know what your favorite vegan offerings are at the new and improved Aldi’s! Great advice always comes from fellow vegans and if there is something delicious that we missed we want to know about it.

What are you waiting for?  Grab your bags and get shopping.
